MX1-GP: Leok and Monni Italian Champions
Yamaha Red Bull De Carli`s Tanel Leok has made a very positive early impression with his new team by clinching the 2009 MX1 Italian Championship. The Estonian finished 5th overall at the fourth and last round of the series at Gazzane di Preseglie on Sunday to seal the title by just five points from outgoing number one Antonio Cairoli.
Cairoli was a clear winner in Gazzane thanks to a double moto victory and he triumphed three times in total from eight races. The Sicilian`s DNF in the first sprint last week in Ponte a Egola proved costly though, as his perfect set of 50 points was not enough to topple Leok who seems to have adapted to the YZ450F seamlessly
